The Literacy Society of Shailabala Women's College
  1. There shall be a Literary Society of the College.
  2. All the students of the College shall be members of the Society.
  3. The Principal of the College shall be ex-officio President of the Society.
  4. The main objective of the Society shall be to arrange discussions and debates on literary topics and to help the Union in the publication of the magazine.
  5. The affairs of the Society shall be managed by a Committee of manage ent consisting of the following members:
    (i) The President   Principal ex-officio.
    (ii) The Vice-President - One of the college staff to be nominated by the Principal     .
    (iii) Secretary - Any student elected from +3 and P.G. classes. (iv) Asst. Secretary - Any student elected from +3 1 st year, +3 2nd year or 5th year P.G. classes.
    (v) One representative from each class shall be elected by the students of respective class.
  6. At the beginning of each session election shall be held to different offices Qfl such date and in such manner as the Principal may determine.
  7. The meeting of the Literary Society shall be open to all members of the staff, who if they so desire can take part in the proceeding of the meeting.
  8. The main function of the Secretary shall be to arrange discussions, record the minutes of such meeting, read the proceedings at the beginning of each meeting and to perform such other work which may be deemed necessary in the interest of the Society.
  9. The Secretary will select the subject for discussion in consultation with the President of the Society.
  10. The Secretary shall cause a notice to be issued at least one week before the meeting mentioning.­
    (i) The date and place of meeting,
    (ii) The subject for discussion,
    (iii) The names of the speakers.
  11. The Literary Society is expected to meet at least once in a fortnight. The Principal has the right to make new rules if she thinks it is necessary in the interest of the Society.
  12. The Principal can ask any office bearer to resign on grounds of misconduct, indiscipline and inefficiency. She can nominate another office bearer in her place till the next election.
