Madhusudan Das beyond all doubt is the greatest Oriya of Modern times, and justly known as the "grand old man" of Odisha. He was respected by all sections of the Odiya community and the trusted advisor and confident of the leading land owners and ruling chiefs of his province, by reasons of his public activities and as the pioneer of education and industry in Odisha. He led with zeal and enthusiasm the movement for the constitution of Odisha as a separate province and he died working till his last breath to realise his hearts desire.

He was the first Odiya to receive higher education on western lines, the first B.A, BL and CLE. of Odisha. The reputation of Madhusudan Das as a pioneer of national industry is very great. The establishment of Utkal Tannery was his noble enterprise and a great venture. This factory was unique in its kind and its production excelled in quality so much so that gained wide popularity in countries abroad. He gave great impetus to the silver filigree work and the horn work.

Madhusudan Das's mission was the uplift of Odisha. continued to think of his birth place till the very end. He is gone but his spirit lives in the heart of every Odia. Glory to the "iconic :: Madhusudan Das".
